It is our mission to be your home base hotel in our multi-sport, riverfront, adventure town.

This 3-story boutique hotel has reopened under a new ownership team in the fall of 2019 but retains its charm and longstanding commitment to serving our guests.

Meet the folks behind Carriage House Inn
About Sonya
Sonya enjoys hiking and multi-day wilderness trekking adventures. Before moving to Downieville, she enjoyed spending time raising animals and growing food on her rural Southern California property. In SoCal, she longed for the sounds of the rushing river, the changing colors and smells of the seasons, and the close knit community she knew she wanted to be a part of. She found all of this and more in Downieville!
About Michael
Mike enjoys wilderness trekking, mountain biking, fly fishing, and is our jack of all trades. Prior to living in Downieville, he also enjoyed growing avocados on the couple’s two-acre ranch in Southern California. He longed for a place he could ride or hike out of his backdoor to commune with nature. When he's not managing the hotel, Mike is out exploring the waterways, lakes, and trails in Sierra County.
You will often find both Mike and Sonya enjoying Downieville with their dogs, Sprocket (pictured) and the newest addition to the Carriage House team, Torvi.

Lydia Miyasato Henslee
Lydia has been with Riverside Mountain Lodge and Carriage House Inn since 2022. A proud local resident, Lydia brings a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and unique charm of Downieville to her role as General Manager.
With a focus on hospitality and exceptional guest service, Lydia oversees the daily operations of both properties, ensuring that every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable stay.
Committed to providing a warm, welcoming environment, Lydia is dedicated to making your visit to Riverside Mountain Lodge and Carriage House Inn an experience you'll cherish.

Nathalie Fearon
Nathalie is our Front Desk Coordinator, joining us in 2023. Originally from Switzerland, she has called these mountains home since 2019. Nathalie's greatest joy is seeing our guests smile and ensuring they have a memorable stay.
Yanilen De Giovanni
Yani is one of our beloved caretakers at Riverside Mountain Lodge and Carriage House Inn. Originally from Argentina, she and her family have embraced this mountain paradise for the past six years, finding joy in the beauty and tranquility of the area.
Lily Antrim
Lily is a dedicated housekeeper at Carriage House Inn and Riverside Mountain Lodge, ensuring every guest enjoys a spotless stay. She’s an ambitious student, completing two years of high school at once to graduate early!
When she’s not at the hotel, you’ll find her serving up coffee and amazing meals at Cold Rush Cafe. A Sierra City local, she loves baking and exploring the Lost Sierra. Say hi if you see her around!
Laura Ruiz
Laura is one of our valued caretakers and she puts her heart into making each guest room as beautiful and welcoming as she can. She enjoys growing Downieville’s most beautiful fruits and veggies for her family and friends, and exploring the area with her daughter.
